COMPACT SOLUTION FOR EVERY MISSION

The AFRACAL2 is a DUAL Power Amplifier facilitating un-compromised communication for tactical missions through HF, VHF, and UHF.

The dual RF Amplifier capability lends itself to a number of unique deployment options:

  • Full band HF, VHF/UHF Base, Vehicular, and other Moving Platforms with 1 or 2 transceivers.
  • High Power Re-Bro (relay) stations with HF reception relayed to VHF/UHF 100/75W and VHF/UHF reception relayed to HF 125W.
  • High Power Repeater stations with 100W / 75W capability.

Amplifier 1 amplifies HF frequencies 1.6-30 Mhz to 125W available on the HF Connector  (N-Type Female) at the rear.

Amplifier 2 amplifies the VHF/UHF frequencies 30-170/512 Mhz in the following way:

  • 30-88 Mhz to 100W are available on the VHF Connector (N-Type Female) at the rear.
  • 88.1-170/512Mhz to 75W are available on the UHF Connector (N-Type Female) at the rear.

The two Amplifiers have their own RF inputs and could make use of ONE, or TWO transceivers, one for HF, the other for VHF/UHF.

The amplifier, low pass filter switching, and output antenna port selection are controlled by the Radios and Amplifier logic to ensure seamless performance.

If only ONE multiband HV/U* transceiver is connected, Amplifier 1 input is automatically routed to the applicable PA 1 or 2 depending on the frequency.

The RF outputs are switched automatically through to the correct antenna output connector HF, VHF-L, or VHF-H/UHF* and thus connected to the correct band antenna.

A wideband radio connected to the Amplifier (Input 1) will provide 125W for the HF,  100W for the VHF Low Band, and 75W for the VHF High band and UHF Band.

  • The 125W HF 1.6-29.99Mhz is available on RF output connector 1, marked HF.
  • The 100W VHF(L) 30-88Mhz is available on RF output connector 2, marked VHF.
  • The 75W VHF(H) 88.1 – 170/512* Mhz is available on RF output connector 3, marked UHF.

When two radios are connected, one for HF to Input 1, and one for VHF/UHF* to Input 2 the outputs would be the same, however, the operator can receive HF and VHF/UHF at the same time.

DETAILED FEATURES FOR ANY MISSION

Compact designAt only 11 kg, this Amplifier is one of the most advanced and flexible wideband amplifiers available to fit into confined spaces. Rugged MIL-STD-810G Full Immersion proof IP67
The enclosed epoxy powder-coated T6-Aluminium casing ensures compliance with MIL-STD- 810G specifications.

SET-UP AND USER CONTROLS

No setup or controls are required as it is all done automatically from the radio RS232 control.

USER-FRIENDLY DISPLAY

The user-friendly display features the selected Frequency, Output Power achieved and VSWR is indicated on a bar graph.

DATA PERFORMANCE

The amplifiers are extremely linear at the rated power to ensure higher data rates to cover an extended range.

EXTENDED LIFETIME

Lifetime is extended by operating the amplifiers at more than -3dB below the rated power of the output electronic devices.

WIDE SUPPLY WINDOW

The Afracal2 Amplifier can operate from 10Vdc to 35Vdc and supplies all connected radios with a stable 12Vdc. This simplified supply configuration reduces cabling.

ATU CONTROL

The amplifier facilitates the conversion from the radio RS232 control signals to RS485 robust control for external high-power antenna tuners.

MOUNTING

The amplifier can be installed on any rack or shelf; however, purpose-built base stations and vehicular mount racks are available to facilitate quick extraction, cooling, and vibration damping. Contact our sales team for custom designs.
