The SMG fires from a closed bolt and is equipped with a collapsible buttstock, making it well-suited for the military and law enforcement communities. This straight-line construction, coupled with the low recoil of 9MM ammunition, provides highly accurate fire with less muzzle climb, especially in full automatic fire. Less recoil facilitates ease of training and improves accuracy. Operation and training for the Colt 9MM SMG approximates that of the Colt M16 Rifle, M4 Carbine, and Colt Commando® Carbine, simplifying user training substantially.
